An RK chain and sprocket kit is a quick and easy way to get the right set up the first time. A pre-cut chain is matched to countershaft (front) and rear sprockets. Most kits come with a Vortex T6 aluminum rear sprocket. Steel sprockets are available where noted. The light weight aluminum sprockets offer less unsprung weight and makes for better suspension actuation than steel sprockets. Steel rears do last longer and are less expensive. Most of the off-road bike kits are "Quick acceleration" kits with either a smaller countershaft sprocket or larger rear sprocket for improved drive out of corners and up hills. Replacing the sprockets and chain at the same time makes for a more matched set-up. Replacing just one part of the drive system risks premature wear on both the chain and sprockets.
